These are BMW specification IRB6400s from the X5 line. As such they have been exceptionally well maintained and cared for. The main difference from our usual robots is that the cabinets are fitted with the DSQC 344 Interbus-S card in place of standard I/O cards this allows very easy connection to a suitable PLC. In addition the cabinet has the tall extension which is currently fitted with a Bosch PSF 5000 spot welding controller, but this can be removed to provide space for your PLC or other equipment. Standard DSQC 228 I/O can be added at extra cost.
The later version of ABB IRB 6400 robot has an excellent reputation as a reliable and productive robot and has been installed around the world in hundreds of installations. The arm design is well balanced, durable and remained largely unchanged for over 12 years, a testament to how well it was specified in the first place.
The S4C control cabinet is significantly smaller than its predecessor and is widely recognised for its reliability and the stability of its software.
The ABB IRB 6400 is the successor to the ABB IRB 6000 model. In appearance they are very similar and indeed mechanically they are very closely related sharing many of the same castings. The most significant changes are to the control system, and more specifically the teach pendant. One of the main advantages is that the screen can display far more lines of information allowing quicker and easier navigation.
The 6400 S4C has very similar specifications to the S4 6400 that proceeded it and the S3 6000 before that. It has as standard 120kg capacity and 2.4m reach. The main advantages being in path following accuracy and the use of the ABB RAPID programming language with better multi tasking functionality. The S4C controller is well regarded for its stability and reliability. Offering even more processing power and capability than the S4 controller it is yet another evolutionary step up.
The standard IRB 6400 arm and controller are both protected to IP54 with the wrist getting additional protection to IP55 this means that the robot is well suited to industrial environments. The IRB 6400 is employed by the hundred around the world in a multitude of applications including spot welding, palletizing, handling, pick and place, machine tending, cutting, de-burring, even NON EX painting and spraying applications.
